It is essential that the partners in the security domain have sufficient knowledge and information to translate the formulated security tasks into for example detection, undermining and contemporary risk and crisis management (public/private cooperation). It is important here that they make data available to each other (for example through ways of sensing, the Internet of Things and the use of social media) and sharing, analysing, interpreting, converting it into information and then transforming this information into knowledge and intel that can be used administratively and operationally for decision-making. Information-driven security is not only a technological exercise, it also requires a different way of working and attention to issues such as open source content, cyber security, ethics and privacy.
